Job summary

Precision Sheet Metal Shop in Richmond is hiring a LASER OPERATOR to operate the Mitsubishi ML3015 laser machine. Hours are 4:00pm–2:30am, Monday to Thursday, or 2:30am–11:00am. Must drive; no transit available. Please indicate which shift you are applying for.

The role requires operating the CNC laser and related machinery, selecting lenses, and setting parameters for optimal performance while adhering to safety and quality standards. A strong team player with flexibility is essential.

Qualifications

• 1+ year of experience on Mitsubishi or similar laser cutting machines.
• High school diploma preferred.
• Background in sheet metal.
• Knowledge of tooling and tool maintenance.
• Ability to identify materials including aluminum, steel, stainless steel, copper and brass.
• Shift work and some weekend work required.
• Strong team player.

Responsibilities

• Operate the CNC laser cutting machine and other machinery in production or assist other operators.
• Load programs, set machine parameters, and select lenses based on material type and thickness.
• Understand shielding gases used during laser cutting.
• Maintain a clean, organized work area and ensure safety and quality standards.
• Collaborate with team to maximize productivity and efficiency.
• Follow all company rules and safety policies.

• Operate the CNC laser cutting machine and other machinery used in the production process, or assist other machine operators.
• Select and set up lenses based on material type and thickness, load programs and set machine parameters to ensure optimal performance of the equipment.
• Knowledge about shield gases used during laser cutting operation.
• Work in a fast paced environment with fast changing priorities.
• Keep work area clean and organized.
• Provide a great level of attention to detail and focus on the given task.
• Work with team members to maximize productivity and efficiency.
• Follow all company rules and policies.
• Follow all safety rules and quality standards.

Knowledge And Skill Requirements

• 1+ years of experience on Mitsubishi / similar Laser cutting machines .
• High school diploma is preferred.
• Background working in Sheet metal.
• Knowledge of tooling and tool maintenance.
• Ability to distinguish material types including Aluminum, Steel, Stainless Steel, Copper and Brass. - Flexible schedule is required; this position requires shift work as well as some weekend work.
• Strong team player.

Additional Skills (preferred)

• Knowledge of lifting techniques.
• Ability to read blueprints.
• Ability to lift heavy items 40 lbs.
• Basic knowledge of AutoCAD.TruTops or Metamation programming experience.
