Job summary

University of Toronto is seeking a Grounds staff member to join the Facilities/Ancillary Services team. The role involves a wide range of outdoor tasks including lawn and garden maintenance, operating landscape and snow removal equipment, and assisting with irrigation systems.

The position requires Grade 12, 3 years of landscape experience, and a valid G license, with on‑call winter duties as needed. Working hours follow seasonal schedules: May–October, Sundays 8:00 AM–4:30 PM; Mon–Thu 10:30

Qualifications

• Grade 12 completion or equivalent.
• Three years of related landscape experience.
• Valid Provincial Class 'G' driver's license and ability to work outdoors in varied weather.

Responsibilities

• Trims, cuts and waters grass and flowers; rakes leaves; lays sod; maintains soft landscaping.
• Operates landscape and snow removal vehicles and equipment.
• Sets up vehicles and equipment and performs simple adjustments.
• Loads and unloads equipment onto vehicles.
• Cleans up and removes graffiti, posters, or abandoned bicycles.
• Performs snow and ice removal duties.
• Maintains irrigation and other landscape systems.
• Instructs Service Worker – Grounds staff in assigned tasks.
• Other related duties as required.
