Job summary

The University of Waterloo is seeking a Groundsperson to maintain campus landscapes and perform seasonal tasks. The role contributes to a safe, esthetically pleasing environment through routine groundskeeping and operating standard tools and equipment.

The position requires at least one year of landscap ing experience, a high school diploma, and the ability to work year-round on outdoor duties. This temporary contract supports facilities operations and campus upkeep.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum one year of recent commercial landscaping experience.
• Experience in major institutional sectors is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Winter snow and ice control for doorways, steps and walkways, including salting and use of snow blowers.
• Mowing with self-propelled commercial mower and lawn maintenance.
• Prepare flower beds for planting and perform weeding, mulching, and raking.
• Assist with laying sod, transplanting trees and shrubs, and basic landscaping installation.
• Year-round duties include waste and recycle handling, litter pick-up, and general grounds maintenance.
