Job summary

The University of Toronto Mississauga is seeking Landscape Technician role(s) to perform standard landscape duties under supervision. Three temporary positions exist for 120 days, with full-time schedules and on-call winter duties per the collective agreement.

Responsibilities include lawn care, plantings, equipment operation, graffiti removal, irrigation maintenance and staff instruction. On-site work and varied hours in all weather are required.

Qualifications

• Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent. Related landscape courses are an asset.
• Three years of related landscape experience.
• Possession of valid Provincial Class 'G' driver’s license and ability to work long hours in all weather.

Responsibilities

• Trims, cuts and waters grass and flowers, rakes and collects leaves, lays sod; maintains soft landscaping.
• Drives and operates landscape and snow removal vehicles and equipment (trees, turf, chainsaws, tractors, loaders).
• Sets up vehicles and equipment for use and performs simple adjustments.
• Loads and unloads equipment onto vehicles.
• Performs cleaning details and graffiti removal; handles snow and ice removal details.
• Maintains irrigation and landscape systems; trains staff in tasks.
