Role description:

Arcadis is looking for a Landscape Architectural Designer to join our Placemaking Practice Group in Toronto.

Our Studio is a team of passionate landscape architects and designers who seek to define cities of the future and achieve climate positive design through design excellence, integrating nature-based solutions. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including our in-house disciplines and high-profile designers as well as our sector-leading external partners.

Our projects are rich and varied, including public parks and plazas, transit infrastructure, ecological design, institutional / campus landscapes, streetscapes, and private development. You will be challenged and inspired by projects that demand a variety of ideas and solutions that arise from collaboration and appreciation for a wide variety of design disciplines.

Role accountabilities:

  • Collaborate with studio and senior staff in delivering coordinated landscape submissions in accordance with project delivery schedules and requirements on major projects
  • Support multi-disciplinary teams and assist with project completion from bid phase to detailed design and contract documents
  • Develop high-quality graphic presentations, detailed design schemes and reports
  • Demonstrate strong verbal, written and graphic communication skills and ensure that a high level of professionalism and design excellence are upheld within each project

Qualifications & Experience:

  • A bachelor’s or master’s degree, or diploma from an accredited institution within the field of Landscape Architecture or similar
  • A minimum of 3 years (post-graduation) of relevant working experience in a professional design firm
  • Experience in technical detailing, drafting, and landscape construction practices, along with knowledge of local construction and plant materials and experience with municipal and agency approvals and regulations
  • Previous experience working within large multi-disciplinary teams as part of a project delivery system
  • Experience in preparing construction documentation such as specifications and schedules of quantities would be an asset
  • Capacity to multi-task and thrive in a fast-paced environment with a keen eye for detail while still upholding design excellence in challenging project time frames and deadline environment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong technical skills with the following software: latest version of AutoCAD and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Adobe Creative Suite, SketchUp
  • Proficiency in MicroStation, Revit and ArcGIS is considered an asset
  • Certification from the International Society of Arboriculture is considered an asset
  • A valid driver’s license is considered an asset

The salary range for this position is $56,000-$84,000. The base salary represents Arcadis’ hiring range for this position. Actual salaries will vary and will be based on various factors, such as location, skills, experience, and qualification for the role.
