Our office in Toronto is seeking a Senior Architect-Rail & Transit to join our team.

This position involves working on projects in the rail (High Speed, Metro, LRT, streetcars) industry in the Toronto office at 130 Adelaide Street West.

Responsibilities:

1. Assess designated projects and develop designs considering transit project features, buildings, climate, future usage, and other aspects.
2. Develop architectural design packages based on the applicable project specifications, codes, and standards while managing stakeholder reviews and comment resolution.
3. Participate in a multidisciplinary and collaborative design environment with the ability to resolve complex internal and external interfaces.
4. Overview of BIM-related issues including a good working knowledge of the applicable standards and methodologies.
5. Review and prepare specifications for architectural sections.
6. Provide professional support services during construction.
7. Participation in urban and landscape architecture design may be required.

Qualifications:

1. 10 years of overall building design experience is needed with experience in infrastructure or rail projects preferred.
2. Member (or eligible for full membership) of OAA.
3. Bachelor’s degree.
4. Proficiency in Revit 2023 or later with knowledge of collaborative, cloud-based design environments.
5. Experience with Landscape Architecture is an asset.
6. Familiarity with legislation, codes, and standards for building design, with special emphasis on the transit sector.
7. Knowledge of sustainability design requirements and Toronto Green Standards (TGS).
8. Experience with accessibility standards.
9. Experience with CPTED standards.
10. Experience in tenders and in architectural design development (from concept design to detailed design).
