Job summary

KBL Environmental Ltd. is hiring a Labourer/Driver in Yellowknife, NT.

Under supervision, you will identify and handle waste, load/unload trucks, and ensure TDG-compliant handling while supporting the Waste Services department. You will operate equipment such as forklift, skid steer, and pallet jack, travel to sites as needed, and maintain safety and customer service standards in a remote northern environment.

Qualifications

• Valid class 5 driver's license with clean driving record (Class 3 a strong asset).
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs frequently and work outdoors in varying weather.
• Strong commitment to safety and reliability; North region labour/driving experience is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Identify, handle and prepare waste in TDG-compliant manner.
• Provide customer service at KBL and in external interactions.
• Inspect equipment and perform daily maintenance for safe operation.
• Supply supervisor with information for required documents.
• Complete load sheets and inventory reports accurately.
• Load/unload trailers and manage customer drop-offs effectively.
• Follow SWPs and SOPs; report near misses to supervisor.
• Work independently in remote locations when needed.
• Operate small to large equipment safely.
• Travel as necessary to fulfill project tasks.

Title: Labourer/Driver

Work Location: Yellowknife, NT

Reports to: Lead Hand

Department: Waste Services

Under the supervision of the Lead Hand & Facility Manager, the Labourer/Driver must demonstrate strong listening skills, adhere to safety protocols when working with hazardous materials, and operate equipment ranging from small to large sizes. Candidates should possess physical fitness and a willingness to work outdoors in various weather conditions. Labourers are responsible for managing waste safely, efficiently, and in a timely manner. Their duties include, but are not limited to, identifying and repackaging waste for transport in compliance with Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG) regulations, consolidating waste as needed, loading and unloading trucks, pick ups and drop offs, and engaging in physically demanding tasks.

What You’ll Do

• Identify, handle, and prepare waste in compliance with relevant legislation and Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG) regulations.
• Provide exceptional customer service both at KBL and while representing the company in external interactions.
• Conduct equipment inspections and perform daily maintenance to ensure safe operational standards.
• Supply the Supervisor with necessary information to complete required documentation.
• Complete load sheets and inventory reports accurately.
• Load and unload trailers and manage customer drop-offs effectively.
• Adhere to Safe Work Practices (SWPs) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and report near misses and incidents to the Supervisor promptly.
• Work independently in remote locations as needed.
• Operate small to large equipment safely and confidently.
• Be willing to travel as necessary to fulfill project-related tasks.
