Job summary

ABIC is seeking a dedicated Labourer to join the Backframing Team on residential construction projects in Ottawa. You will support framers, assist with site duties, and help deliver high-quality homes while maintaining safety and organization.

The ideal candidate has at least 1 year of framing or construction labour experience, a valid driver’s license, and relevant safety certifications. Expect a 7:00 am–4:30 pm schedule, a collaborative team, and a focus on quality workmanship.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Minimum of 1 year experience in framing, back framing, or construction labour.
  • Valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle.
  • Safety certifications (Working at Heights, WHMIS, WSIB) are required.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with all aspects of back framing in residential homes.
  • Strap houses (1st, 2nd, and basement living areas).
  • Construct drops, bulkheads, frost walls, and finished stairs.
  • Straighten studs and complete finished basements.
  • Follow build sequences and working drawings accurately.
  • Manage and organize materials on-site.
  • Maintain a daily clean and safe work environment.
  • Attend bi-weekly Toolbox Talks and follow all safety processes.
  • Contribute to a positive, team-oriented workplace.

You Will Bring

  • Contribute to a positive, Team-oriented workplace
Working Conditions
  • Majority of time is spent on construction sites
  • Ability to adapt to changing site conditions and priorities
  • Work may involve exposure to weather, noise, dust, and high-risk activities
  • PPE (hard hat, hi-vis & steel toes boots) is required at all times in field settings
  • Physically able to lift, bend, and work in all weather conditions
  • Ability to travel to different projects throughout the City of Ottawa
