Job summary

ABIC in Ottawa, Ontario is seeking a reliable Team Member, Assembly to join our fast-paced manufacturing team. This role involves assembling floors, walls, windows, doors and other components, and operating machinery and tools used in residential fabrication and framing.

This is a 3-month contract (September–December 2026). The ideal candidate has a high school diploma or equivalent, experience operating machinery, the ability to read blueprints and shop drawings, and a commitment to safety,

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent; post-secondary education is an asset.
  • Experience operating machinery in a manufacturing or residential construction environment.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and shop drawings.
  • Skilled in operating hand and power tools.
  • Knowledge of imperial and metric measurement systems.
  • Strong communication skills; able to work independently and in a team.
  • Valid driver’s license and regular access to a vehicle.
  • Commitment to safety, quality, and workplace cleanliness standards.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine and repetitive assembly tasks while operating equipment and hand/power tools.
  • Assemble products according to instructions, on-time, and to prescribed quality standards.
  • Ensure equipment and tools operate efficiently and safely, following all workplace protocols.
  • Maintain preventive maintenance, safety, 5S, and quality control processes.
  • Keep work area clean and organized to meet company standards.
  • Escalate production or operational issues to the Team Leader or supervisor promptly.
  • Ensure required materials and supplies are available at all times.
  • Participate in problem-solving sessions and identify improvement initiatives.
  • Provide training and support to fellow team members as needed.
  • Stop machines, tools, or processes to address safety or operational concerns.
  • Perform additional duties as required.

Working Conditions
  • Majority of time is spent in our Factory
  • Ability to adapt to changing site conditions and priorities
  • Work may involve exposure to weather, noise, and dust
  • PPE (hard hat, steel toes boots, eye protection, hearing protection) is required at all times in field settings
