Job summary

Promise Robotics is hiring a framing carpenter at our Calgary plant. You will assemble pre-built wall, floor, and roof structures and interpret blueprints to plan layouts and material needs for residential frames.

The role requires 2+ years of framing experience, knowledge of building codes, and familiarity with AutoCAD or Revit is a strong asset. Excellent teamwork and safety mindset are essential for on-site production tasks in Alberta.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required; Journeyman certification is an asset.
• 2+ years in framing, building residential structures.
• Proficient in building codes and blueprints.
• Experience with AutoCAD and Revit is a strong asset.

Job description

We’ve recently begun production at our new state‑of‑the‑art robotic homebuilding plant in partnership with several large homebuilders within the Greater Calgary Region. Powered by Promise Robotics’ transformative production lines for timber‑based panelized construction, the new plant enables our group of homebuilding partners to significantly increase the capacity and speed of home production within the fast‑growing region of Calgary, AB.

What you will do:

• Assemble/finish pre‑built wall, floor, and roof structures
• Examine and understand specifics of blueprints and building plans to prepare project layouts to determine the dimensions and materials required for building the frame for a house
• Measure, cut, and assemble the framing lumber needed to build residential buildings
• Install exterior windows and doors
• Frame floor panels as per joist layout and framing shop drawings
• Conduct interior work such as fitting interior doors and casings
• Use a variety of hand and power tools such as saws, drills, nail guns, framer’s squares, and measuring tapes
• Provide on‑the‑job training & mentorship to other employees
• Maintain safety standards in the workplace
• Follow quality control procedures
• Ensure that the required materials and supplies are available
• Participate actively in problem solving sessions, continuous improvement initiatives
• Perform additional duties as required

What you will need to succeed:

• High School Diploma, GED or equivalent
• 2+ years of experience in framing position
• Journeyman Carpenter certification is a strong asset
• Proficient in building codes
• Experience with AutoCAD and Revit software is a strong asset
• Team work oriented
• Excellent problem‑solving skills and good communication skills
• Residential construction knowledge
• Ability to operate hand and power tools
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and shop drawings
• Knowledge of health and safety rules
• Knowledge of imperial and metric measurement systems
• Must be able to push, pull and move equipment and/or material up to 50 pounds
• Must be able to distinguish colors
• May require work in hazardous environments requiring protective equipment
