Job summary

Caivan is seeking a driven Project Manager in Training to join our construction team in Ottawa, Ontario. The role focuses on contributing to construction timelines, closing deficiency checklists, and supporting community development from backfill to closing.

Ideal candidates have 2–5 years in low-rise construction, strong MS Office, MS Project, and AutoCAD proficiency, plus excellent communication and organizational skills for a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education in construction, project management or related field.
  • 2-5 years experience in low rise construction in a similar role.
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite, MS Project, AutoCAD, and other related management software.

Responsibilities

  • Support assigned Project Manager(s) in the production of homes from backfill to closing.
  • Manage various stages of production in new home construction.
  • Review and maintain working drawings, specifications, scopes, construction details, and sales details.
  • Apply On Location Schedule (OLS) and On Location Warranty (OLW) to perform tasks.
  • Complete checklists including Builder Frame, 1st Handyman, 2nd Handyman, Builder Punchout, Move-in Ready, Pre Delivery Inspections.
  • Manage the lot schedule and trade management.
  • Ensure Caivan’s quality standards and perform daily quality checks on production homes.
  • Support the Project Manager(s) with preparation of City Inspections.
  • Conduct site tours and safety inspections and lead by example to ensure policies are adhered to.

The Project Manager in Training is responsible for contributing and adhering to construction timelines, driving the clean-up of deficiency checklists and supporting the development of our growing Communities.

You will Bring
  • Post-secondary education in construction, project management or related field

Key Responsibilities
  • Support assigned Project Manager(s) in the production of homes from backfill to closing
  • Manage various stages of production in new home construction

Working Conditions
  • The job description implies the performance of repetitive tasks
  • The majority of time is spent on construction sites
  • PPE is required at all times in field settings (steel toes, hard hat, Hi-Vis)
  • Work may involve exposure to weather, noise, dust, and high-risk activities
  • The position is situated on a busy, high-volume construction site with constant activity, including large machinery
