Job summary

Thomas Cavanagh Construction Limited in Ontario is hiring for May 2026 for our paving crews. The role involves carrying out assigned tasks efficiently, meeting quality and production targets, following procedures, and maintaining open communication with colleagues and supervisors.

You will unload trucks, transport tools, sweep and prep areas, measure and mark paving zones, serve as flagger when needed, shovel materials, and ensure tools are stored properly.

Qualifications

• 5 years of experience in asphalt.
• Valid Ontario Driver’s License.

Responsibilities

• Assist in unloading trucks and gathering necessary tools and equipment for the day’s work.
• Transport rakes, lutes, shovels, and spray cans to the paver or designated work area.
• Sweep and clean the area in front of the paver, ensuring a clear and debris‑free surface.
• Measure and mark out the designated area for paving, ensuring accurate and proper alignment.
• Occasionally act as a flagger to direct motorists away from the work zone, ensuring safety and traffic control.
• Perform shoveling tasks as required, including the movement and distribution of materials.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of tools and equipment, ensuring they are properly stored at the end of the day.
• Tamp and compact asphalt edges to ensure proper adhesion and stability.
• Clean up the work site by removing any debris or rubbish generated during the paving process.

Our Mainline and Commercial/Residential Paving Crews are hiring for May 2026. This individual is responsible for carrying out assigned tasks/responsibilities efficiently and effectively. They will meet quality standards and production targets set by the organization. They will follow established procedures, guidelines, and best practices. It is important that they maintain open and constructive communication with colleagues, supervisors, and other stakeholders. Finally, they will show punctuality and reliability in fulfilling work obligations.

Wage Range

The hourly range for this position in Ontario at the start of employment is expected to be between $26.00 and $35.00 per hour. However, the range offered is based on local job market factors and may vary further depending on factors specific to the selected job candidate, such as job‑related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations.
