Job summary

GFL Environmental Inc. in Fort McMurray, AB is seeking a motivated Labourer to join TEAM GREEN.

You will safely assist drivers and other crew in collecting solid waste from a range of collection vehicles, contributing to efficient operations in all weather conditions. This on-site role requires physical stamina, a valid Class 5 license, and the ability to pass a pre-employment drug test and background check.

Qualifications

• Local candidate residing in Fort McMurray is required.
• Pre-employment drug test and criminal background check may be required.
• Valid Class 5 driver's license is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Ensuring cleanliness of work areas.
• Assist with pulling out bins along collection routes.
• Maintaining equipment and tools.
• Fueling vehicles and equipment.
• Shipping and receiving parts and supplies.
• Operating a range of site vehicles and equipment.
• Directing traffic on-site when required.
• Following instructions with minimal supervision.
• Operating necessary equipment proficiently.
• Applying problem-solving skills to general challenges.
• Fulfilling additional duties as assigned by management.
• Sort, clean carts, warehouse cleaning, stacking pallets, and operating equipment such as a cardboard compactor.
• Assist with yard maintenance and minor repairs; basic welding knowledge is an asset.
• Loader and skid steer experience.

• Help with tasks such as sorting, cleaning carts, warehouse cleaning, stacking pallets, and operating equipment (e.g., cardboard compactor).
• Assist with site work such as yard maintenance, and minor repairs if necessary. Basic welding knowledge an asset.
• Loader and Skid Steer experience.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift 50 lbs regularly.
• Must be physically fit to work in an outdoor environment.
• Must be able to walk, bend, reach, and lift regularly.
• Ability to manually push/move up to 100 lbs with assistance.

Additional Information

• Safety-Sensitive Position: Will require completion of pre-employment drug and alcohol screening and Criminal Background Check
• Valid Class 5 License and clean driver's abstract
• Work will be performed primarily outdoors in varying weather conditions, including extreme temperatures and humidity.
• Work Environment: Exposure to loud noise, moving mechanical parts, fumes, and airborne particles.
