Job summary

The Society of United Professionals in Saskatchewan is seeking a Labour Relations Staff Officer to support members, elected leaders, and the Society's growth. You will provide expert guidance on grievances, bargaining, arbitration, and labour legislation while building constructive employer relationships.

Reporting to leadership, you will mentor officials, help with mediation, and contribute to a strong union presence across the province.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Laws, Juris Doctor, or and equivalent combination; law degree strongly preferred.
• Five or more years in labour relations including bargaining, grievances, arbitration prep, and advocacy.
• Experience preparing and arguing labour arbitration cases.
• Strong knowledge of labour legislation, arbitral jurisprudence, and union operations.
• Experience supporting organizing campaigns and union growth is a strong asset.
• Commitment to the labour movement and member advocacy.

Responsibilities

• Provide expert labour relations advice to members and elected Local leaders on collective bargaining and workplace issues.
• Research, prepare, and advocate arbitration cases and represent members effectively.
• Build trusted relationships with local leaders, members, and employers.
• Mentor elected officials to strengthen leadership and member representation.
• Support collective bargaining initiatives and assist with mediation and dispute resolution.
