Job summary

City of Saskatoon is seeking a Labour Relations Analyst to join the Strategic Negotiations, Labour Relations and Client Services team. The role supports collective bargaining, grievance resolution, arbitrations, and labour relations strategy.

You will conduct research, interpret collective agreements, prepare corporate positions for arbitrations, and maintain records and reporting. The work involves liaising with unions, management and external bodies to advance fair labour practices.

Qualifications

  • Degree in commerce, business administration or related field.
  • 1–3 years' related experience in the human resources field.
  • Knowledge of labour legislation.
  • Knowledge of statistics and standard research techniques.
  • Ability to analyze issues and communicate decisions effectively.
  • Ability to prepare and present clear oral and written reports.

Responsibilities

  • Negotiates assigned labour relations issues in consultation with the Labour Relations team.
  • Acts as liaison between unions and management regarding union/management relations.
  • Produces and presents statistical and other reports verbally and in writing.

Ready to make an impact in Labour Relations? We’re hiring a Labour Relations Analyst to join our team and play a key role in collective bargaining, grievance resolution, arbitrations, research, and labour relations strategy!

The type of work you'll be involved in:

This position conducts research and participates in labour relations activities, including grievances, arbitrations and collective bargaining. Duties include:

  • Conducts research, compiles data, summarizes decisions and implications for the Labour Relations Branch in relation to negotiation of collective agreements, grievance investigations, arbitrations, Labour Relations Board cases and the development of Corporate labour relations policies and procedures.
  • Interprets provisions of collective agreements, human resources procedures and policies and labour legislation. Investigates, represents and facilitates the resolution of disputes and grievances in consultation with the Labour Relations Consultant and/or Manager, Labour Relations. Assists with the preparation of the Corporate position for arbitrations.
  • Assists with the preparations for negotiation of collective agreements, participates on negotiating teams, and provides labour relations support to the City’s chief spokesperson.
  • Negotiates assigned labour relations issues in consultation with the Labour Relations team.
  • Acts as liaison between unions and management regarding aspects of union/management relations.
  • Maintains liaison with external agencies, other human resource departments, union representatives and government agencies and officials.
  • Produces and presents a variety of statistical and other reports verbally and in writing.
  • Coordinates, facilitates and participates in the training activities provided by the Labour Relations team.
  • Executes assigned agreement documents.
  • Maintains a record system, including grievance files, arbitration history files, the grievance tracking system, and Labour Relations Board rulings.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
The type of person we are looking for:
  • Degree in commerce, business administration or a related field.
  • One to three years' related experience in the human resources field.
  • Considerable knowledge of labour legislation.
  • Knowledge of statistics and standard research techniques, as well as costing methodology.
  • Ability to analyze issues critically and communicate decisions effectively.
  • Ability to prepare and present clear, concise and accurate oral and written reports and briefing documents.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of officials and employees.
  • Skill in the operation of a computer with Microsoft Office software.
  • Possession of a valid Saskatchewan Class 5 Driver’s Licence

Weekly Hours:40

Salary Range:$82,146.00to$96,521.76 CADper annum (2026rates)
