Job description

Job Title: Laborer at GFL Environmental Inc.

GFL Environmental is seeking a Laborer to join our team at the Victoria Transfer Station in Victoria, British Columbia. This outdoor, hands-on role requires a commitment to safety, teamwork, and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Manually separate and sort materials from mixed loads
2. Maintain work areas and equipment cleanliness
3. Direct traffic safely on-site as needed
4. Operate a front-end loader and excavator safely (part-time)
5. Assist with load screening and spotting duties
6. Perform manual tasks such as lifting/moving materials (up to 65 lbs)
7. Follow all safety protocols and instructions with limited supervision
8. Perform additional duties as assigned by management

Qualifications:

• Valid driver’s license
• Ability to lift and move up to 65 pounds regularly
• Basic reading, writing, and math skills
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills
• Experience operating loaders/excavators is an asset
• Forklift certification and first aid tickets are assets
• Must meet safety-sensitive function criteria as per company standards
