Purpose
The Laboratory Technician, Level I, is focused on generating high-quality data at a large capacity for POLARIS Laboratory customers by using laboratory instruments and following work instructions to demonstrate successful mastery of assigned tests.
Essential Functions

- Uses resources to achieve outcomes: Manages use of software such as ECI, ADI, HRN, JIRA, Verse, Yammer, and effectively navigates LIMS to print paperwork and research sample history.
- Meets production: Achieves daily goals, troubleshoots and escalates instrument issues, works within the schedule and attendance policy, performs instrument maintenance.
- Supports the Quality system: Adheres to Work Instructions, maintains audit readiness, updates training knowledge, and strives for high customer satisfaction.
- Supports the Safety program: Takes actions to prevent incidents, uses PPE appropriately, and maintains safety certifications.
- Contributes as a team member: Communicates needs, supports team goals, and suggests process improvements via Lean initiatives.
Supportive Functions
- Collaborates with various departments to resolve issues and support audits and Kaizens.
Specific Job Knowledge, Skill and Ability
- Mechanical ability, fine motor skills, multitasking, organization, troubleshooting, attention to detail, color and odor detection, process application, communication, and time management.
Other Duties
- Supports POLARIS policies, quality and safety programs, and performs other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- GED or High School Diploma or 3 years of service in the Laboratory Assistant role.
- Completion of mandatory POLARIS training within 90 days.
- No written warnings in the past 12 months and a satisfactory 90-day review.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in a production or laboratory environment.
Safety Requirements
- Use of PPE, including eye protection, as mandated by OSHA and POLARIS policies.
- Training in safety practices and reporting defective PPE or equipment.
