Job summary

AGAT Laboratories is seeking a Laboratory Technician for our Calgary Trace Organics lab. This seasonal role reports to the Laboratory Supervisor and supports administrative and basic lab activities. Weekend availability is required, with an anticipated end date of November 30th 2026.

The successful candidate will join a dynamic team, gaining exposure to cutting‑edge science and strict quality control standards in a supportive work environment.

Qualifications

• Post-secondary education with a degree or diploma in Science.
• 2+ years’ laboratory experience and basic laboratory skills.
• Experience using GCMS/GCFID instrumentation is an asset.
• Fluent in English, both written and verbal.
• Intermediate computer skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Perform basic laboratory procedures including preparation of samples, reagents and calibration solutions.
• Provide general lab support including washing glassware, cleaning work stations and waste disposal.
• Calibrate, operate, maintain and troubleshoot instruments.
• Compile, verify and validate accurate data records.
• Meet quality assurance and turn around specifications.
• Follow all Quality Control and Standard Operating Procedures.
• Report results.
• Perform basic analysis.
• Other duties as assigned.

AGAT Laboratories is currently looking for an Laboratory Technician to join our TraceOrganics lab working out of our Calgary location. The successful candidate will be given direction from the Laboratory Supervisor and assist with administrative and basic laboratory activities. Please note this is a seasonal based position with an anticipated end date of November 30th 2026. For this role, weekend availability is required.

What you will be doing:

• Perform basic laboratory procedures including preparation of samples, reagents and calibration solutions.

What you bring to the table:

• Ability to work in a positive manner in a fast paced environment.

Work Environment:

This position requires a person to stand, sit and lift throughout the shift in a laboratory environment. Manual dexterity is required to perform repetitive tasks. PPE is required where applicable.
