Job summary

CES Energy Solutions, through PureChem Services in Nisku, Alberta, is hiring a Laboratory Technician to handle intake and preparation of field samples, bench and analytical testing, and reporting results. The role supports development of new lab processes and products, and involves field testing and client communication.

Responsibilities

  • Intake and preparation of field samples for analyses.
  • Bench testing of field samples.
  • Analytical testing with ICP/IC, Karl Fischer, pH,density meters, etc.
  • Concisely report results and manage the results database.
  • Develop new lab processes and troubleshoot existing procedures.
  • Prepare and test batches of new and existing products.
  • Conduct field testing and support activities.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Job description

CES Energy Solutions is a dynamic and growing North American oilfield services company listed on the TSX as CEU with revenue of 2.49 billion in 2025. It is one of the largest providers of production chemicals and drilling fluid systems and is focused on being the leading provider of technically advanced chemical solutions throughout the life cycle of the oilfield.

This full-time, diverse position at PureChem Services, the production chemical division of CES Energy Solutions, is located in Nisku, Alberta. The Laboratory Technician is responsible for various detail-oriented duties in the laboratory, and reports directly to the Laboratory Manager.

Responsibilities
  • Intake and preparation of field samples for various analyses.
  • Bench testing of field samples.
  • Analytical testing with equipment to include ICP / IC / Karl Fischer/ pH / density meter / etc.
  • Concise reporting of results as well as managing the database where results are stored.
  • Development of new lab processes and troubleshooting of existing procedures.
  • Making and testing batches of new and existing products.
  • Research and development of new products.
  • Field testing and support.
  • Other duties as required.
Necessary qualifications
  • Post-secondary technical training in a science-related field.
  • Relevant industry or related experience may be considered in place of formal training.
Required skillset
  • Confidence and capability in operating assorted analytical equipment with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to commission laboratory equipment as well as develop and troubleshoot test methods.
  • Excellent writing and communication skills, both for internal and client correspondence.
  • High degree of computer literacy and ability to quickly master new types of computer software.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
  • Strong statistical analytical skills.
  • Experience with Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • Ability to multitask and adapt.
