Job summary

CES Energy Solutions Corp. seeks a Chemist in Calgary to join our dynamic lab team.

The role focuses on sampling, analysis, and reporting of fluid parameters, with emphasis on applying advanced chemical techniques to support production chemicals and drilling fluids life-cycle needs. The candidate should have a BSc in Chemistry and 1+ years’ oil and gas experience, along with a valid driver’s license and strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Service work including sampling, parameter measurement, data reporting, and troubleshooting.
  • Provide technical support to operations, engineering, and sales teams.
  • Setup, maintenance and calibration of laboratory instruments.
  • Travel up to 10% as needed.

CES Energy Solutions is a dynamic and growing North American oilfield services company listed on the TSX as CEU with revenue of 2.49 billion in 2025. It is one of the largest providers of production chemicals and drilling fluid systems and is focused on being the leading provider of technically advanced chemical solutions throughout the life cycle of the oilfield.

CES Energy Solutions is a leading provider of technically advanced consumable chemical solutions throughout the life-cycle of the oilfield (http://www.cesenergysolutions.com/). CES provides products to the Drilling Fluids, Production Chemicals, Stimulation and Fracturing industries.

The CES Energy Solutions lab is the newest and one of the best equipped labs in the industry. We are located in Calgary, AB. Our lab is equipped with a wide range of equipment including: particle size analysis, FTIR, NMR, spinning drop tensiometer, GC, HPLC, scale loop, friction loop, XRD and EDX/SEM. We also have extensive equipment to support our products lines for scale, paraffin, H2S scavengers and corrosion.

Working in a fast-paced dynamic environment, the duties of the Chemist include:

  • Service work (sampling and sample preparation, measuring and recording fluid parameters, analyzing results, data reporting, investigation and troubleshooting, multi-tasking).
  • Technical support to operations, engineering and sales teams.
  • New instrument setup, maintenance and calibration.
  • On-call and up to 10% travel required.

The right candidate will have a proven track record encompassing the following qualifications and skills:

  • BSc in chemistry, petrochemical, or related discipline.
  • Lab and/or field technical experience may be considered in lieu of formal education.
  • 1+ years’ experience in the oil and gas industry.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Strong chemical background.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
