Job summary

Michael Garron Hospital in Toronto, ON seeks a Laboratory Supervisor to monitor testing quality, ensure accuracy, efficiency and safety per IQMH standards. The role provides direct supervision to laboratory technicians and RPNs, coordinates with the Director/Manager of Laboratory Medicine and collaborates with other departments.

Qualifications

• Minimum five years clinical experience in laboratory
• Excellent ability to communicate clearly, teach, problem solve and organize
• Good attendance and work record required
• Supervisory experience preferred
• LIS knowledge/expertise preferred
• Experience with regulatory standards and quality programs
• Experience with Lean methodology, quality improvement and risk management, an asset
• Demonstrate interest in continuing personal and professional growth
• Mature responsible judgment
• Self-motivated with the ability to guide and motivate staff

Responsibilities

• Provide direct supervision to laboratory technicians and RPNs to ensure adherence to standards
• Act as a quality resource and leader for the department of laboratory medicine
• Maintain and update procedure manuals, training material and continuous quality improvements in the pre-analytical and other laboratory areas
• Collaborate with Director/Manager of Laboratory Medicine and other departments; may cross-appoint to OpX
