Job description

Alberta's Tomorrow Project (ATP; myatp.ca) is the largest research project ever undertaken in Alberta and resides in Cancer Care Alberta. ATP was launched in 2000 as a prospective cohort to examine the relationship between environmental, lifestyle, and genetic factors and the incidence of cancer and chronic diseases. ATP aims to increase knowledge about the causes and prevention of cancer and chronic disease by tracking health and lifestyles of around 55,000 Albertans for up to 50 years. ATP's main activities include collection, processing and storage of data and biosamples as well as building the research platform to support research into cancer and chronic disease. ATP shares data and biosamples with the health research community in universities, health services delivery organizations, and research institutes in Alberta, Canada and abroad using a standard set of access procedures. This casual position offers weekday shifts running from 7:00 AM to 12:00 PM, Monday through Friday at the Arthur J.E. Child Comprehensive Cancer Centre. This position will report to the Research Operations Lead and will be under the direction of the ATP Bioresource Advisor. The successful candidate will work in the Science Teaching Research Innovation and Exercise (STRIDE) centre collecting biosamples from ATP participants for active research studies. This position will be responsible for a variety of laboratory functions including collecting, handling, processing and biobanking biosamples. This position may assist with tasks in the biobank and will perform basic data entry tasks.
