Job summary

Alberta Precision Labs is hiring a Medical Laboratory Assistant I to work in a fast-paced, public-facing Patient Service Centre in Calgary. The role involves venipuncture, ECGs on outpatients and community patients, specimen handling, processing, and reporting results.

You will follow lab procedures, monitor wait times, and work independently or with a team in a patient-oriented environment. This temporary full-time position offers professional development and comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

  • Completion of an accredited Medical Laboratory Assistant program or equivalent.
  • Previous Phlebotomy experience and ECG Certification.
  • At least 2 years of recent phlebotomy experience and ECG experience; 6 months in a Patient Service Centre preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide high quality service to clients of the clinical laboratory in an effective, efficient and safe manner.
  • Procurement, handling, processing, dispatching and testing of specimens, performing procedures and reporting results.
  • Perform venipuncture and ECGs on registered outpatients and community patients; monitor wait times to ensure best service.
