Job summary

Arc’teryx is seeking a Lab and Workshop Technical Lead to guide the operation of our Mountain Athlete Lab, Materials Lab and Workshop in North Vancouver. You will lead technical workflows, manage equipment and space, and enable rapid prototyping and testing for mountain athlete products.

The role combines hands-on fabrication, test setup, and collaboration with Advanced Concepts and Product Creation teams. A mechanical/electrical/mechatronics background and 5+ years in labs are required, with

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering; 5+ years in a lab/workshop.
  • Experience leading technical workflows or environments.
  • Familiarity with instrumentation and troubleshooting lab equipment.
  • Fabrication tools experience: CNC milling and 3D printing.
  • Experience setting up prototyping and production facilities.
  • Advanced knowledge of CAD, machine operation, and data management tools.
  • Hands-on, teachable, and able to collaborate.
  • Strong problem-solving and adaptability.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical leadership for Mountain Athlete Lab, Materials Lab and Workshop.
  • Ensure teams have tools, environments, and capabilities for breakthroughs.
  • Define strategy and execute creation and testing environments.
  • Manage lab/workshop equipment: selection, procurement, installation, training, calibration, maintenance.
  • Support Advanced Concepts projects through fabrication, rapid prototyping, and testing.
  • Maintain organized labs and optimize space utilization.
  • Coordinate scheduling and resource allocation for projects.
  • Keep equipment logs, calibration schedules, and service records.
  • Lead training, SOPs, and documentation.
  • Ensure safety standards and regulatory compliance.
  • Troubleshoot equipment and testing challenges; engage external partners as needed.
  • Build relationships with external technical experts for design support.
  • Travel to local and international facilities as required.
  • Support IP development related to equipment, testing, and manufacturing.
  • Assist with funding program submissions (e.g., SR&ED, IRAP, NRC, MITACS).
  • Keep current with industry technologies and best practices.
