Job summary

MKS Instruments, Inc., through its Photon Control Inc. subsidiary, is seeking a Test Technician to support engineering and shipment testing activities in a fast-paced lab environment. You will work with Test Engineers to verify and validate tests, prepare test setups, and document results with traceable records.

You will contribute to failure analyses, troubleshoot test setups, and help optimize testing protocols while ensuring a clean, safe lab and on-time deliverables.

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary degree in electrical, mechatronics, or engineering.
  • 2–4 years in a test technician role in a test lab.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow test procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Perform shipment testing as required, ensuring products meet necessary shipping and handling standards.
  • Assist Test Engineers to conduct tests according to verification and validation plans.
  • Prepare test samples, fixtures, equipment, and test setups to support engineering and shipment testing activities.
  • Perform routine and standardized testing independently after training, following approved test procedures and work instructions.
  • Document test procedures, conditions, observations, and results clearly and accurately, maintaining complete and traceable test records.
  • Participate in failure analysis investigations and root cause analysis, identifying failure modes and supporting corrective actions.
  • Identify abnormal test results or test setup issues, perform basic troubleshooting, and escalation issues to Test Engineers as needed.
  • Contribute to the development and optimization of new and existing testing protocols to ensure efficiency and accuracy.
  • Compile and analyze test data, providing actionable insights to the test engineering team to support product improvements.
  • Ensure the test lab is clean, organized, and well-maintained.
  • Conduct regular cleaning and upkeep of lab equipment and tools to maintain a safe and efficient testing environment.
