Base pay range

$24.87/hr - $29.04/hr

As a Lab Patient Technician, you will be responsible for the specimen collection process, from greeting patients to preparing specimens for transportation. This role is vital in patient care and our business, allowing you to see the difference you make in patients’ lives.

Status: Part Time Schedule: Flexible shift Additional requirements: This position involves travel to multiple locations including Kitchener, New Hamburg PSCs, Mount Forest, and Palmerston. A reliable vehicle and valid license are required. Saturday shifts at Victoria St location are also included. Number of Positions: 1 Start Date: ASAP

Your Responsibilities Will Include
  • Greeting patients, requesting information, explaining specimen collection, and ensuring test protocol adherence.
  • Performing phlebotomies, connecting/disconnecting holter monitors, and ECG tracings.
  • Collecting special tests, such as drug screens, paternity tests, and clinical trials, and completing documentation.
  • Maintaining client relationships, responding to inquiries, and following up.
  • Data entry of patient demographics, requisition info, and test result processing data.
  • Preparing specimens for transportation and testing.
What You Will Bring To The Role
  • Graduate of an approved Laboratory Assistant program or equivalent (preferred).
  • Phlebotomy experience (asset).
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Good computer skills with a minimum typing speed of 40 wpm.
  • Strong customer/patient service skills, even in stressful situations.
  • Empathy, flexibility, adaptability, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to maintain patient privacy and confidentiality.
