Job summary

Coast Calgary University Area Hotel by APA in Calgary, AB is hiring a Kitchen Steward/Dishwasher to support the kitchen team with cleaning, prep, and service during lunch and dinner shifts. Availability required on weekends and weekdays.

The role requires a FoodSafe certification, physical stamina, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment while upholding Coast's standards and values.

Qualifications

• Preference for candidates completing culinary arts or professional cook training program.
• FoodSafe or equivalent certification.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Operates, cleans, and maintains dishwashing equipment and keeps kitchen areas sanitary.
• Preps assigned work to support regular service and banquet events.
• Adheres to Coast Hotels standards in all tasks.
• Ensures safety and security of the property, ambassadors and guests.
• Stock supplies and maintains inventory levels.
• Acts as an ambassador for Coast Hotels; demonstrates customer service attitude.

The Kitchen Steward/Dishwasher will contribute to the overall success of the hotel by providing support, superior customer service and upholding the quality standards in the kitchen. This is a full time position, lunch and dinner shifts. Availability required: weekends and weekdays.

Responsibilities:

• Operates, cleans, and maintains the dishwashing equipment and ensures all areas of the kitchen are kept clean and sanitary
• Completes assigned prep work to support the kitchen team with regular service and banquet event preparation
• Adheres to Coast Hotels standards when completing tasks
• Ensures the safety and security of the property, other ambassadors and guests when completing tasks
• Stocks supplies and maintains inventory levels
• Acts as an ambassador for Coast Hotels
• Demonstrates a customer service attitude with internal and external contacts
• Other duties as required

Skills/Knowledge/Experience:

• Some experience in a similar role an asset; preference will be given to candidates who are completing or have completed a culinary arts/professional cook training program
• FoodSafe or equivalent certification
• Hepatitis A Vaccination recommended
• Physical mobility and stamina
• Professional attitude and appearance
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Ability to take verbal direction and read and apply instructions
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
