Position Summary:

The Kitchen Manager is responsible for directing the day-to-day operation of the kitchen to ensure Opaa! standards are met and maintained, and the kitchen complies with all safety and health regulations.

Functions of the Job:

Essential Functions Production
  • Monitor food and food preparation to maintain quality standards for preparation, presentation, and sanitation.
  • Promote customer service by investigating and resolving food quality and service complaints.
  • Coordinate the preparation and daily transportation of meals to satellite buildings, where applicable.
Supervisory
  • Conduct daily safety and production meetings with kitchen staff.
  • Demonstrate and promote Opaa’s Core Values and report concerns immediately.
  • Supervise kitchen staff, delegate workflow, and address personnel issues.
  • Train, cross-train, and certify all kitchen job stations; perform any kitchen function as required.
  • Ensure cleanliness and organization of the kitchen and storage areas.
Compliance
  • Maintain compliance with recipes, menu plans, and obtain approval for menu changes.
  • Follow Opaa! policies, including timekeeping, HACCP, HHFKA, CACFP, and safety procedures.
  • Report unsafe conditions and safety incidents promptly.
Administrative
  • Manage food and supply orders, production records, inventory, and participation counts.
  • Ensure accurate record-keeping, meal counts, and timely completion of logs.
  • Maintain communication with the building principal and participate in weekly meetings.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Physical/Visual Activities or Demands
  • Frequent standing, walking, sitting, and other physical activities.
  • Lift objects up to 25 pounds regularly and exert over 60 pounds occasionally.
  • Specific vision abilities required include focused attention and color vision.
Working Conditions
  • Indoor and outdoor work environments.
  • Exposure to moving mechanical parts, humid conditions, extreme heat, and occasional chemicals.
  • Noise level is usually loud.
Position Qualifications:

High School Diploma, GED, or relevant experience required. Ability to read, write, and present information effectively. Mathematical skills include basic arithmetic and data interpretation. Reasoning skills involve understanding and applying instructions. Certifications: Serve Safe Certification (additional certifications may vary).
