Job summary

Push Operations is seeking an experienced Kitchen Manager in Calgary to lead daily back-of-house operations and foster a positive team culture. You will ensure consistent food quality, safety, and service standards while developing staff and improving processes.

The role requires hands-on leadership in a fast-paced culinary environment, with a focus on guest experience and cost management. Evening, weekend, and holiday availability is expected.

Qualifications

  • Proven kitchen leadership experience in restaurant or food service.
  • Knowledge of food handling, sanitation, and safety.
  • Strong leadership, communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure while maintaining quality.
  • Experience with scheduling, inventory control, and cost management is a plus.
  • Food safety certification is preferred or must be obtained.
  • Availability to work flexible evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise, train, and schedule kitchen staff.
  • Oversee food preparation, cooking, presentation, and portion standards.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe kitchen per health regulations.
  • Monitor inventory, place orders, receive supplies, and rotate stock.
  • Support menu planning and recipe execution with management.
  • Control food, labour, and operating costs while maintaining standards.
  • Ensure equipment is used, cleaned, and maintained; report repairs.
  • Address operational issues quickly and communicate with front-of-house and management.

Job description

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Kitchen Manager to lead daily back-of-house operations, support a positive team culture, and ensure consistent food quality, safety, and service standards. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader who thrives in a fast-paced culinary environment and takes pride in developing people, improving processes, and delivering an excellent guest experience.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise, train, coach, and schedule kitchen staff to maintain efficient daily operations.
  • Oversee food preparation, cooking, presentation, and portion standards to ensure quality and consistency.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe kitchen in compliance with health, sanitation, and food safety requirements.
  • Monitor inventory levels, place orders, receive supplies, and manage stock rotation to reduce waste.
  • Support menu planning, recipe execution, and process improvements in collaboration with management.
  • Control food, labour, and operating costs while maintaining service standards.
  • Ensure equipment is properly used, cleaned, and maintained; report repair needs promptly.
  • Address operational issues quickly and communicate effectively with front-of-house and management teams.
Qualifications
  • Previous kitchen leadership, supervisory, or management experience in a restaurant, hospitality, cafeteria, catering, or similar food service environment.
  • Strong knowledge of food handling, sanitation, workplace safety, and allergen awareness.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure while maintaining a high standard of quality.
  • Experience with scheduling, inventory control, ordering, and cost management is an asset.
  • Food safety certification is preferred or must be obtained as required.
  • Availability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
