Qualifications

  • 1-3+ years of food service experience with day-to-day direction to staff.
  • Experience with inventory control, stock, orders, and production planning.
  • Red Seal Cook designation is an asset.
  • Food Safety certification is required.
  • First Aid certification is an asset.
  • Excellent English communication and leadership abilities.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, organize, and direct kitchen staff in daily tasks and service assignments.
  • Coordinate daily food production and meal service to meet quality standards and quantities.
  • Prepare and present breakfast, lunch, dinner, salads, sandwiches, entrees, and specialty dishes.
  • Manage inventory control and ordering, conduct weekly counts, and prevent shortages.
  • Ensure allergens and special-diet meals are separated, prepared, and labeled correctly.
  • Maintain food safety, sanitation, and service standards across production and service.
  • Lead coaching and training of kitchen staff and communicate priorities clearly.
  • Follow Safe Work Practices and Standard Operating Procedures; perform other duties.

As a Kitchen Lead, you'll play a key role in delivering high-quality meals and exceptional service while helping coordinate daily kitchen operations in a dynamic remote camp environment. This position is ideal for an experienced and motivated cook who takes pride in food quality, organization, teamwork, and supporting others.

Reporting to the designated supervisor, the successful candidate will lead day-to-day kitchen activities while preparing and presenting a variety of high-quality menu items, including breakfast, lunch, dinner, salads, sandwiches, entrees, and specialty dishes. The Kitchen Lead is responsible for directing kitchen staff, coordinating production and meal service, supporting inventory control and ordering, and ensuring food safety, allergen, special-diet, sanitation, and service standards are consistently met.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, organize, and direct kitchen staff in their day-to-day tasks, including food preparation, production, cleaning, and service assignments.
  • Coordinate daily food production and meal service to ensure menu items are prepared on time, in the required quantities, and to established quality standards.
  • Prepare and present menu items, including breakfast, lunch, dinner, salads, sandwiches, entrees, and specialty dishes.
  • Manage inventory control and ordering activities, including completing weekly inventory counts, monitoring stock levels, identifying shortages, rotating stock, and preparing accurate food orders.
  • Support responsible product use by monitoring portions, minimizing waste, and ensuring food and supplies are stored correctly.
  • Ensure allergens and special-diet meals are properly separated, prepared, handled, and labelled to prevent cross-contact and meet guest requirements.
  • Ensure food quality, food safety, sanitation, and service standards are met and maintained throughout production and meal service.
  • Ensure all daily, weekly, and monthly cleaning lists are completed and that the kitchen remains clean, safe, and organized.
  • Provide day-to-day guidance, coaching, and training to kitchen staff and communicate priorities, changes, and service requirements clearly.
  • Adhere to safety policies and procedures by following company Safe Work Practices and Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • 1-3+ years of food service experience, preferably in a remote environment, with demonstrated experience providing day-to-day direction to kitchen staff.
  • Experience with inventory control, stock management, food ordering, production planning, and allergen or special-diet meal preparation is required.
  • Red Seal Cook designation is an asset.
  • Food Safety certification is required.
  • First Aid Certification is an asset.
  • Excellent communication, organization, and leadership skills in English, both verbal and written.
  • Must be able to move, lift, carry, pull, push, and place objects weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods of time.
  • Must successfully pass a pre-access Drug and Alcohol test as a condition of employment.
