Job summary

Ruth & Naomi's Mission in Chilliwack, BC, is seeking a Kitchen Lead to oversee daily kitchen operations, mentor staff, and ensure meals are prepared with care and dignity for individuals we serve. This hands-on leadership role offers growth within a purpose-driven food services team.

You will guide meal prep, assist with planning, ordering, and inventory, and uphold safety and cleanliness standards while fostering a positive team culture.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of experience in a commercial or high-volume kitchen with leadership duties.
• Strong cooking skills across a variety of meals.
• Experience with menu planning, ordering, and inventory management.
• Valid FoodSafe Level 1 certification; or willingness to obtain.
• Culinary Arts certification or Red Seal designation considered an asset.
• Strong organizational, time-management, and problem-solving skills.
• A positive leadership style with the ability to train, encourage, and support others.
• A compassionate, respectful approach to working with individuals from diverse backgrounds and circumstances.
• Willingness to respect and uphold Ruth & Naomi's Mission's values and mission.

Responsibilities

• Manage food ordering, receiving, inventory, and proper storage.
• Assist with kitchen staff scheduling, training, and day-to-day leadership.

• Maintain high standards of food safety, sanitation, and cleanliness.
• Monitor food usage, minimize waste, and ensure accurate kitchen documentation.
• Work closely with the Food Services Manager to support smooth operations across our kitchens.

Ruth & Naomi's Mission is looking for a dependable, organized, and compassionate Kitchen Lead to join our Food Services team!

In this role, you'll help oversee daily kitchen operations, lead meal preparation, support and mentor kitchen staff, and ensure meals are prepared with care and dignity for the individuals we serve.
