Job summary

Government of Yukon’s Department of Education seeks a Temporary Education Assistant for Tantalus Community School in Carmacks, YT. The position is 0.5 FTE with an August 20, 2026 start and a June 4, 2027 end date.

The role focuses on supporting Kindergarten education within BC curriculum, in a rural setting. Candidates should demonstrate Grade 12 or equivalent and experience working with youth; bilingual English/French and special-needs experience are assets.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 graduation or equivalent.
• Experience working with youth.
• Fluency in both English and French would be considered an asset.
• Experience working with youth with special needs would be considered an asset.
• Post-secondary training in educational assistant, exceptionality worker, special education assistant, or a related field would be considered an asset.

Responsibilities

• Support learning through project-based approaches.
• Adapt and modify curriculum to meet a range of learning needs while incorporating Yukon First Nation culture.
• Support self-regulation, character education and restorative practices in the classroom and school.
• Collaborate with professional team and participate in the total school program during change.
• Work independently to motivate learners and be a positive team member.
