Job summary

Government of Yukon invites applications for an Education assistant at Golden Horn Elementary School. The role supports students and staff and emphasizes inclusive, place-based learning within a dynamic Yukon classroom.

Start date is ASAP and the contract runs through January 29, 2027. Applicants should have Grade 12, experience with youth, and may have post-secondary training in educational support roles. RCMP check and First Aid are required.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

• Grade 12 graduation or equivalent

• Experience working with youth

• Experience working with youth with special needs would be considered an asset

• Post-secondary training in educational assistant, exceptionality worker, special education assistant, or a related field would be considered an asset

• Add clear, understandable, realistic and demonstratable-in-a-resume qualifications. This is the most important component of the job posting.

• It is the foundation which the panel will use to screen the resumes and assess applicants.

• DESIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND SUITABILITY:

• Ability to work effectively with students, teachers, and school staff;

• A willingness to work in outdoor education programming.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

• Criminal Record/RCMP Check with Vulnerable Sector; to be provide before the first day of employment, dated no more than 3 months prior to your start date
• Standard First Aid; to be provided within 3 months of the first day of employment
• Completion of the Education Assistant YG Learn course
