Job summary

British Swim School of Kitchener-Waterloo is hiring a part-time Swim Instructor to teach young learners using our curriculum. Paid training is provided, and classes are small, typically four swimmers per instructor, with year-round scheduling and weekly shifts.

You'll help children stay safe in the water, build confidence, and track progress while collaborating with a supportive team. Previous teaching not required; a positive attitude and willingness to learn matter most.

Qualifications

• Must be able to swim at least two strokes.
• Patient, enthusiastic approach and enjoyment of working with children.
• Reliability, punctuality, and strong communication skills.
• Willingness to learn, take feedback, and follow teaching methods.
• Comfort being in the water during scheduled lessons.
• Availability for consistent weekly shifts, including evenings and/or weekends.

Responsibilities

• Teach water safety, survival skills, and swimming using the British Swim School curriculum.
• Create fun, encouraging lessons for children with different abilities and comfort levels.
• Help nervous swimmers build confidence and celebrate their progress.
• Follow pool safety procedures and maintain attentive supervision during lessons.
• Track student progress and communicate positively with parents and caregivers.
• Assist with lesson equipment setup and cleanup.
• Participate in training and collaborate with instructors and the deck team.
