Job summary

British Swim School of Kitchener-Waterloo is seeking a part-time Swim Instructor with paid training in our curriculum. Location: Kitchener-Waterloo, Ontario. Pay: $17.95–$22 per hour.

No prior swim-teaching experience is required; we provide paid training to teach water safety and swimming using our curriculum to young students in small classes. This role offers meaningful work, stays active, and growth toward Lead Instructor or Deck Supervisor as the program expands.

Qualifications

• Ability to confidently swim at least two strokes.
• Patient, enthusiastic approach and enjoyment of working with children.
• Reliability, punctuality, and strong communication skills.
• Willingness to learn, take feedback, and follow teaching methods.
• Comfort being in the water throughout scheduled lessons.
• Availability for consistent weekly shifts, including evenings and/or weekends.

Responsibilities

• Teach water safety, survival skills, and swimming using the British Swim School curriculum.
• Create fun, encouraging lessons for children with different abilities.
• Help nervous swimmers build confidence and celebrate progress.
• Follow pool safety procedures and maintain attentive supervision during lessons.
• Track student progress and communicate positively with parents and caregivers.
• Assist with lesson equipment setup and cleanup.
• Participate in training and collaborate with instructors and the deck team.

Helpful, but not required

• Lifeguard certification.
• Previous teaching, coaching, camp, or childcare experience.
• A competitive swimming background.
• First Aid and CPR certification.
