Job summary

Poppy Barley is seeking a Key Leader for our Vancouver store to deliver exceptional customer service and lead the sales floor. You will open and close the store, manage workload, and coach team members to uphold our luxury-for-people standard.

You will drive guest relationships, stay current on product knowledge, handle customer cases, and partner with the Store Manager to implement initiatives. You’ll join a collaborative team focused on growth, learning, and community impact.

About this Opportunity

As a Key Leader, your primary role is to deliver exceptional customer service that demonstrates our value of luxury for the people. You will open and close the store, assist in the organization and delegation of store workload, and provide leadership on the sales floor. Leadership:
  • Lead the sales floor to motivate the team to achieve store sales and customer experience goals.
  • Support the daily operations of the store to ensure tasks are completed based on previously determined priorities.
  • Support the development of a culture that balances financial results, community impact and an execution-focus creating a fun and dynamic atmosphere.
Customer Experience:
  • Focus on selling relationships, building a client base and offering elevated and exemplary customer service.
  • Be a Poppy Barley fit expert. Keep up to date on all product knowledge and provide customers with the information necessary to ensure they love their Poppy Barleys.
  • Handle and resolve customer cases according to Poppy Barley’s values.
  • Providing feedback to the management team regarding store processes, operations, product, people and customer experience, bringing new ideas to push for continuous improvement of the business.
  • Partner with the Store Manager and Assistant Store Managers to lead initiatives.
People:
  • Support in training team members to ensure consistency and clarity with procedures, activations and promotions.
  • Provide coaching and feedback to team members with a focus on continuous development.
  • Support the onboarding of new team members as outlined and organized by the Store Manager.
Operations:
  • Picking and packing of online orders.
  • Support the execution of weekly and quarterly inventory counts.
  • Unpack inventory and create and accept stock transfers
  • Assist with product QC & accepting returns.
  • Store merchandising and visual presentation.
  • Complete the opening and closing duties for your shift as assigned.
Everything Else
  • Flexibility in availability. Your schedule will include a combination of shift times, including mornings, evenings, and weekends.
  • You will be available to work a minimum of 15 hours a week
  • You will be available throughout the holiday blackout period (mid November to mid January, exact dates to be determined annually)
  • Ability to lift and unpack inventory boxes (up to 50 lbs) and stand for extended periods.
  • All hands on deck: this is a collaborative, roll-up-your-sleeves kind of team, and we're looking for someone who’s ready to jump in wherever needed to get the job done.
Your Skill Set:
  • A high school diploma or in progress/completed post-secondary education, we love to learn and hope you do too!
  • Demonstrated experience delivering exceptional customer service.
  • Experience as a leader in retail, sales or customer service. Experience in elevated/luxury customer experience is an asset.
  • Passion for building connections with people.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • An outstanding attitude that exudes positive energy.
  • The ability to think on your feet.
  • A passion for the fashion industry and building connections with people through styling and education.
