Job summary

The Salvation Army Canada is seeking a temporary full-time Kettle Campaign Coordinator in High River. You will promote and oversee kettle locations, coordinate volunteer schedules, and recruit/mentor volunteers. Travel is required to support kettle sites, and you will help track donations and compile campaign reports.

Work hours typically run 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., including days, evenings, weekends, and split shifts.

Job Description

POSITION PURPOSE SUMMARY:

The Salvation Army Christmas Kettle Campaign is part of a century old tradition to contribute towards building strong communities by helping TSA to give hope to other. The Christmas Kettle Coordinator is responsible for creating and implementing the organization and monitoring of Christmas Kettle Campaign activities. They will also ensure adequate staffing is met prior to and during each shift.

ACCOUNTABILITIES
  • Promote, co-ordinate and oversee kettle locations in Foothills and High River
  • Responsible for arranging the delivery and pick-up of kettles to/from sites daily, ensuring the security of donations.
  • Coordinate the schedule for kettle volunteers and respond to emergency absences, etc.
  • Make rounds at kettle locations to ensure kettle is staffed as per policy.
  • Fill in as necessary at kettles to cover breaks or late arrivals, etc.
  • Ensure that kettle locations have adequate supplies of literature, giveaways, etc.
  • Assist in counting kettle income daily.
  • Responsible for the recruitment, orientation and performance management of kettle workers/volunteers.
  • Work alongside kettle workers/volunteers.
  • Contact churches, schools, businesses and other organizations to fill volunteer spots on kettles.
  • Foster and maintain positive working relationships with volunteers and businesses hosting kettle locations.
  • Maintain accurate records of volunteer's information.
  • Prepare and send out appropriate Thank You letters to groups and volunteer hours for students.
  • Post campaign prepare an overall report on the campaign to be submitted to the CFS Manager and retrieve and store all equipment/supplies from various kettle locations.
  • Maintain accurate statistical data using the Kettle System.
  • Perform other position related duties as required.
WORKING CONDITIONS

This is a temporary full-time position based on 40 hours per week.

Kettle Campaign normal hours of operation 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.

Shifts will include days, afternoons, evenings, weekend shifts, and split shifts, Monday through Saturday. Applicable shifts include a ½ hour unpaid meal break.

Flexibility in scheduling is required

Supervisor will set the hours of work and work schedule

Required to wear appropriate Salvation Army identification.

Travel is associated with this position.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
  • Willingness to develop an understanding and support for the mission and purpose of The Salvation Army in Canada and its implications as related to position responsibilities.
  • Work in compliance with OH&S Act and Regulations and abide by The Salvation Army's health and safety policies and procedures.
  • Alternative combination of education and Experience may be considered.
Education, Qualifications and Certifications
  • High School diploma or equivalent
Experience
  • Prior kettle experience or equivalent would be a definite asset
  • Experience in office administration, with general office equipment, and strong working skills and experience using MS Word and Excel
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to multi-task and work well in a fast-paced and occasionally stressful office setting
  • Support for and an understanding of the mission and the purpose of The Salvation Army
Skills and Capabilities
  • Excellent organizational skills required, must be self-motivated with the ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Represent The Salvation Army in a positive, professional, and engaging manner.
  • Must participate in online training and become proficient in the Kettle System software.
  • Must provide an original copy of a Background Check that is satisfactory to The Salvation Army, in its sole discretion, is required.
  • Must provide an original copy of a current Alberta "Class 5" Driver's License and current Driver's Abstract
  • Develop an understanding and support for the mission and purpose of The Salvation Army in Canada and its implications as related to position responsibilities.
Compensation
