The Salvation Army in Ontario is seeking a Christmas Kettle Campaign Coordinator for a short-term contract to oversee multiple kettle locations within a geographic zone, including malls, grocery stores and retail outlets.
You will organize, direct and supervise kettle campaign workers, ensure adequate staffing for each shift, and record timesheets while safeguarding donations and equipment. Flexibility in shifts and local travel are required.

The Salvation Army Christmas Kettle Campaign is part of a century old tradition to contribute towards building strong communities by helping TSA to give hope to other. The Christmas Kettle Coordinator position is a short-term contract position. The successful candidate is responsible for oversight of several Christmas Kettle locations in a given geographical zone area. Zone locations include shopping malls, grocery stores and retail outlets. They organize, direct, and supervise the work performed by Christmas Kettle Campaign Workers. They will also ensure adequate staffing is met prior to and during each shift.
Managerial Responsibility: Reports directly to Corps Officer. Direct reports: n/a. Workflow coordinator for Christmas Kettle Workers.
Collect donations and petty cash and ensure donations are always kept secure.
This is a temporary position. Shifts may include days, afternoons, evenings, weekend shifts, and split shifts, Monday through Saturday. Applicable shifts include a ½ hour unpaid meal break. Flexibility in scheduling is required, as the hours may increase as per operational requirements. Work environment is typically in malls/stores Standing for long periods will be required and exposure to cold weather Required to wear appropriate Salvation Army identification. Local travel is associated with this position. Some high school coursework, completion of high school is an asset.
A minimum of one year of related experience or working in customer service. Money handling experience is an asset. Experience in office administration. Experience with general office equipment and must have strong skills and experience using word processing (WORD); spread sheet use (EXCEL). Valid Ontario Class “G” Driver’s License, personal vehicle required and insurance, current copy of driver’s abstract for review and verification that is satisfactory to The Salvation Army, in its sole discretion, is required.
Excellent interpersonal skills, integrity, and adaptability. Ability to multi-task and work well in a fast-paced office setting; attention to detail, problem solving and analytical skills. Ability to lift/move 9 to 12 kgs (20 – 25 lbs.) Enthusiastic Team Player with excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Strong customer service skills; enjoy liaising and working with people of all ages and abilities. Exhibit good listening skills, have strong oral/written communication skills. Work in compliance with OH&S Act and Regulations and abide by The Salvation Army’s health and safety policies and procedures. Honest, courteous, and punctual; prepared to act in the best interest of employer. Represent the organization in a positive, professional, and engaging manner. Attentive listening skills for supervision, coaching, and conflict resolution. Ability to maintain strict confidentiality in the handling of donor, volunteer, and organizational information. Ability and willingness to undergo applicable screening and background checks successfully that are satisfactory to The Salvation Army, in its sole discretion (i.e., The Salvation Army Abuse Registry) and provide an original copy of a Background Check screening. Ability and willingness to develop an understanding and support for the mission and purpose of The Salvation Army in Canada and its implications as related to position responsibilities.
The target hiring range for this position is $18.50 to $23.13 with a maximum of $27.76. Placement in the salary range will be based on factors such as market conditions, internal equity, and candidate experience, skills, and qualifications relevant to the role.
