Job summary

Daaxiigan Sḵ'adáa Née K-12 School, part of School District No. 50 Haida Gwaii, seeks a Temporary Full-Time K-12 Collaborative and Learning Support Teacher to begin as soon as possible and continue until 2027-06-30.

The role prioritizes inclusive education and collaboration with education teams. Applicants should have a university teaching major, be committed to Truth and Reconciliation actions, and hold Teacher Regulation Branch certification.

Qualifications

  • Ability to plan, instruct, assess for diverse student needs.

Responsibilities

  • Design, instruct, assess and evaluate educational programming for assigned students.
  • Collaborate with learning services and admin to develop IEPs and Behavior Plans.
  • Lead multi-grade classroom activities and maintain positive climate.
  • Create inclusive learning environments and work with families and staff.

K-12 COLLABORATIVE AND LEARNING SUPPORT TEACHER
Daaxiigan Sḵ'adáa Née K-12 School

An employment opportunity exists for a Temporary Full-Time (1.0 FTE) K-12 Collaborative and Learning Support Teacher effective as soon as possible to June 30, 2027 at Daaxiigan Sḵ'adáa Née K-12 School.

Requirements
  • A university teaching major, or its equivalent, directly related to the teaching position;
  • Understanding and being committed to the Calls to Action of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission, including the eradication of existing and persistent equity gaps for specific groups of children;
  • High level of skills related to successful classroom management, and to the development and maintenance of a positive classroom climate;
  • Experience with multi-grade classes an asset;
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, instruct and evaluate learning activities for students' strengths and for their academic, social, emotional and behavioural needs;
  • Assume primary responsibility for designing, instructing, assessing, and evaluating the educational programming of all assigned students;
  • Working with the learning services and administrative team to collaboratively develop and implement Individual Education Plans and Behavior Plans;
  • Knowledge of school-based teams;
  • Be prepared to provide support in creating inclusive learning environments where students are connected, supported, engaged and challenged;
  • Proven interpersonal skills, work ethic and demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with students, teachers, education assistants, parents and administrators;
  • Understanding of local resources and environment;
  • Teacher Regulation Branch certification.

Competitive Salary: $120,222 - $75,415 per annum

  • Remote and Rural Allowance: $3,500 per annum
  • Travel Allowance: $1,206 per annum
  • Up to $2,000 relocation allowance upon submission of receipts
