Job summary

Joan and Company Interiors in Etobicoke, Ontario, is seeking a Junior Technical Designer to support our design team from first site visit through final build documentation. You’ll work closely with our Senior and Principal Designers, managing multiple projects at once while producing accurate, polished drawings and client-ready visuals.

This Hybrid role requires measuring homes, creating and managing CAD files, producing elevations and renderings, and completing build documents for all projects,

Joan and Company Interiors is a boutique interior design firm located in Etobicoke, Ontario, specializing in high-end residential builds and renovations. We're a small, collaborative team, and we're growing.

The Role

We're looking for a Junior Technical Designer to support our design team from first site visit through to final build documentation. You'll work closely with our Senior and Principal Designers, managing multiple projects at once while producing accurate, polished drawings and client-ready visuals.

Responsibilities

• Measure homes and attend on-site walkthroughs
• Create and manage CAD files for each project
• Produce detailed elevations and renderings for client presentations
• Complete build documents for all assigned projects
• Assist with project troubleshooting as needed

• Professionalism with the team and in front of clients
• Ability to manage multiple projects at once, with oversight from the Senior and Principal Designers
• Self-motivation and strong organization to set your own schedule and timelines
• Delivery of work within the timelines set by the Senior Designer
• Site notes and documentation from each walkthrough posted in Slack within one business day
• Preparation and setup for client and internal meetings

Qualifications

• Diploma or degree in interior design, architectural technology, or a related field
• 1-3 years of experience in residential design or drafting
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and experience with rendering software (e.g., SketchUp, Revit)
• Strong attention to detail and comfort with measuring and field documentation
• Clear written and verbal communication skills

Compensation and Schedule

• Hourly rate: $25
• Contract length: Permanent (with a 3 month probationary period)
• Hybrid schedule

Pay Details

• Pay: $25.00 per hour
• Expected hours: 30.0 – 40.0 per week
