Job summary

Stantec in Edmonton, AB is seeking a junior structural engineer to join the local structural team. You will interpret drawings and codes, perform structural modeling, and coordinate with architecture, mechanical, and civil teams to ensure design integrity.

You will assist with field work, shop drawing reviews, RFIs, and preparation of specifications while growing your engineering knowledge and pursuing licensure. A PE path in the USA is noted as a potential future goal.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Structural Engineering or Civil Engineering with a Structural focus.
• Registered as engineer-in-training or Professional Engineer with APEGA.
• Previous co-op/internship or up to 5 years of engineering experience.

Responsibilities

• Conduct basic interpretations of drawings, design codes and standards.
• Perform structural modeling and design using standard software and hand calculations.
• Coordinate with other disciplines to ensure design intent.
• Perform field work as directed by a senior engineer/designer.
• Assist in review of shop drawings and submittals, respond to RFIs, and prepare site observation reports.
• Assist with development of technical specifications and proposals.
• Attend project coordination meetings with team members or clients.
• Work as part of a multi-discipline team.
• Comply with quality control guidelines and EH&S program.
