Inuvialuit Regional Corporation (IRC) is seeking a Junior Project Support (Summer Student) to assist with research, planning, coordination, and documentation for IESP activities in Calgary. This role offers hands-on exposure to energy project execution and vendor coordination within IPC operations.
The position is ideal for students pursuing engineering, business, or project-management studies and returning to school in fall 2026. Applicants should be adaptable and ready to travel if needed.
IRC was created in 1984 to represent the Inuvialuit and their rights and benefits obtained under one of Canada's oldest comprehensive land claim agreements. With assets over $1 billion, not including vast land holdings, IRC is responsible for corporate investment, land management, and a broad range of social, cultural, and economic programs and services benefiting Inuvialuit. Its subsidiaries have interests in grocery, manufacturing, property management, transportation, and significant dealings in the oil and gas industry.
Since its inception, IRC has experienced considerable growth, and its structure and operations have become increasingly complex. Combining local government and service delivery, community development, investment, and operating business divisions, all managed by a single back office, the organization has an array of complexities for the executive staff to navigate. There is an emphasis on fostering understanding, healing, and resilience in a region brimming with unique social challenges and immense potential for transformative change.
The Inuvialuit Petroleum Corporation (IPC), a subsidiary of the Inuvialuit Regional Corporation (IRC), is responsible for the Inuvialuit Energy Security Project (IESP) - the development of the M-18 well and construction of a gas plant that will produce natural gas and synthetic diesel for power and heating use across the Inuvialuit Settlement Region.
This project will reduce reliance on imported fuels, create skilled employment opportunities, and ensure a stable, locally produced energy supply for northern communities.
Working closely with the IPC Operations Leader and project management team, the Junior Project Support (Summer Student) will assist with research, planning, coordination, and documentation for IESP activities. Students will gain hands-on experience in energy project execution, vendor coordination, and project controls. This opportunity is ideal for students pursuing engineering, business, or project-management-related studies.
