Fleetway Inc. invites a Junior Naval Architect Engineer student to join our Dartmouth, NS team as a co‑op/intern. You will be mentored by naval architects, mechanical and electrical engineers, gaining hands-on exposure to various government, military, and industry projects.

You will work on technical studies, 3D models, and drawings, with flexible projects tailored to your strengths while developing professional skills and industry knowledge.

Qualifications

  • Enrolment in a Naval Architect Engineering program.
  • Familiar with AutoCAD.
  • Interest in Rhino or other 3D modeling software.
  • Experience in MS Office Suite.
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in development of technical studies, drawings/specifications, and 3D models.
  • Assist with report writing and equipment selection.
  • Participate in engineering change proposals.
  • Work on systems integration projects.
  • Develop 3D models of ship equipment and compartment arrangements.
  • Quality control of drawings.
  • Conduct engineering analysis, such as finite element analysis.

Are you a Junior Naval Architect Engineer looking for an opportunity in the marine industry? Join Fleetway Inc.’s engineering team and be a part of Canada’s National Shipbuilding Strategy and the Halifax Class Design Agent contracts. Through these contracts, Fleetway’s engineers and technologists provide a full range of technical data management and engineering support services to the Royal Canadian Navy. Be part of a team that produces complex designs to support new structures and systems, that will ensure the Royal Canadian Navy is “ready to help, ready to lead, and ready to fight”.

Fleetway offers up to $1000 in co-op reimbursement fees and $1000 in relocation fees!

Responsibilities

During your internship, you can expect to be part of an outstanding group of Naval Architects, Mechanical, and Electrical engineers, and technologists.

We tailor your work experience to your skills and abilities. If you choose to work on one specific project and hone your skills in a particular area, we can make that happen. If you prefer broader project exposure across a variety of client projects, we can make that happen too.

Supported by your peers, you have exposure to a wide variety of Government, Military, Commercial, Oil and Gas, and Industrial based project work.

You can expect as a co‑op student/intern to gain valuable work experience and broad project exposure by:

  • Participating in the development of technical studies, drawings/specifications, and 3D models
  • Assisting with report writing and equipment selection
  • Participating in engineering change proposals
  • Working on systems integration projects
  • Developing 3D models of ship equipment and compartment arrangements
  • Quality Control of drawings
