Hansen Industries Ltd. in Richmond, BC, is seeking a detail-oriented Junior Estimator to join our precision sheet metal, machine and stamping shop. You will review customer drawings, generate estimates, and liaise with customers on RFQs while ensuring timely purchase orders.

The ideal candidate has a Mechanical Engineering credential, 1-2 years in manufacturing, and the ability to read blueprints. Strong communication, organization, and a customer-service mindset are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent training preferred.
• 1-2 years’ work experience in manufacturing.
• Experience in fabrication is an asset.
• Ability to read engineering drawings (blueprints).
• Sales experience is an asset.
• Self-motivated with a professional and positive attitude.
• Ability to work under pressure.
• Good verbal and written communication skills in English.
• Strong organizational skills with ability to manage multiple projects/tasks.
• Attention to detail.
• Excellent customer service skills.

Responsibilities

• Review customer drawings and generate estimates.
• Contact customers about Request for Quote.
• Authorize Customer Purchase Orders.
• Respond to phone messages and emails promptly.
• Review completed jobs to assess actual times vs. estimates.
• Update estimates with routing request changes.
• Follow jobs through the shop and discuss estimated times and operations with the Supervisor/Lead Hand/Manager.
