Job summary

Metalcraft Technology Inc. in Coquitlam, BC, is seeking a Junior CAD Technician to join our precision sheet-metal team. You will create and update 2D drawings and 3D CAD models, read engineering drawings, and assist with laser cutting, punching, bending, and fabrication processes.

You will work closely with engineers and production to ensure manufacturability, maintain documentation, and support CNC-related files. This is a full-time, on-site role with opportunities for growth and mentorship.

Qualifications

• Diploma or certificate in CAD, Drafting, Mechanical Design, or related field.
• Basic experience with 2D and 3D CAD software.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering and manufacturing drawings.
• Basic understanding of dimensions, tolerances, materials, and processes.
• Knowledge of sheet-metal fabrication processes (laser cutting, punching, bending, welding) is an asset.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Good organizational and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to communicate effectively and work with engineering and production teams.
• Legally entitled to work in Canada.

Responsibilities

• Create, modify, and update 2D drawings and 3D CAD models.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings and customer requirements.
• Prepare detailed manufacturing drawings with dimensions and tolerances.
• Assist with sheet-metal design for laser cutting, punching, bending, and fabrication.
• Review CAD files for accuracy and raise issues.
• Revise drawings based on feedback from customers and engineers.
• Maintain CAD files, drawings, and revision records.
• Collaborate with production to ensure designs are manufacturable.
• Support production documentation and CNC files as needed.
