Glenmore Christian Academy (GCA) is a private Alberta accredited Christian school located in the Southwest of Calgary, Alberta, specializing in the education of children in grades K-9. GCA is a member of AISCA (Association of Independent Schools and Colleges in Alberta) as well as ACSI (Association of Christian Schools International). GCA’s mission is to Teach Truth, Inspire Excellence, Experience Christ and Serve through Love. GCA has a head of school, two principals and a staff of over 125 serving approximately 1000 students.
GCA has an opportunity for a full time Junior IT and Theatre Technician who will assist the IT Lead in managing and developing IT operations within GCA and provide support to the organization. The role will assist in supporting and maintaining IT operational infrastructure and activities. The role will also manage and maintain the GCA Theatre and its equipment and provide support to staff in the proper use of the theatre.
Qualifications
- College diploma in computer science or 1-3 years of related experience
- Experience with Windows 11, Windows Server 2019/2022, and basic networking (Juniper/Cisco)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and Adobe
- Hands-on tech support experience for a range of users
- Knowledge of live sound, stage lighting, and video/streaming technologies
- Relevant certifications (Microsoft, Cisco, Palo Alto, Juniper) and event tech experience are assets
- Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to communicate technical concepts clearly
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Able to express a personal faith in Jesus Christ and align with GCA’s Statement of Faith
- Friendly, self-motivated, and capable of supporting IT and theatre tech needs hands-on
- Keen attention to detail with the ability to anticipate potential problems
- Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills
- Team player with leadership ability
- Calm under pressure with a focus on service excellence
Responsibilities
General:
- Provide first-line tech support and troubleshoot issues
- Support users with systems, devices, and basic training
- Maintain documentation and assist with daily IT operations
- Help with budgeting, system research, and implementation
IT Specific Tasks
- Assist with application deployment, OS patching/upgrades, and user account management
- Support classroom technologies
- Help manage hardware setup and maintenance
- Contribute to security, access control, and application support
Theatre Specific Tasks
- Maintain and manage theatre equipment and inventory
- Coordinate with rental technicians and prepare systems for events
- Support school productions, events, and chapel services
- Recommend maintenance and upgrades for theatre systems
Supervision
- The position works under the direction and mentorship of the IT Lead
Working Conditions
- School Environment – children of varying ages, potentially noisy environments
