What is the Opportunity

Reporting to the Accounting Manager the Junior Accountant will be responsible for supporting the daytoday accounting functions and strategic initiatives for the Corporate Reporting team.

What You Will Do Here :

• Assist with monthend close process including preparation of journal entries cost allocations and accruals.
• Prepare monthly balance sheet account reconciliations and schedules.
• Assist with monthly and quarterly reporting and variance analysis.
• Assist in the preparation of quarterly and annual financial statement notes in compliance with IFRS.
• Liaise with business sector finance teams and other Corporate departments.
• Assist with the interim and yearend external audit requirements.
• Build and maintain Business Objects reports used for monthly and quarterly reporting.
• Support continuous process improvement efforts and work on special projects and initiatives as required.
• Adherence to internal controls and related policies and operating procedures.

What You Bring to the Team :

• Undergraduate Degree in Accounting Business or equivalent and working towards a professional accounting designation.
• New university graduates are encouraged to apply.
• Ability to multitask and meet tight deadlines relating to financial reporting deadlines.
• Working knowledge of IFRS including technical accounting and reporting requirements.
• Accounting / coop work experience is an asset.
• Advanced knowledge in Microsoft Office applications (i.e. Excel Word etc.)
• Strong analytical and interpersonal skills including the ability to communicate information clearly and effectively both orally and in writing.
• SAP or Business Objects experience is an asset.
• Proficiency in using accounting software financial management tools and spreadsheets is an asset.
