Job summary

ATCO Structures & Logistics is seeking a registered Carpenter Journeyman for our Grimsby Manufacturing Plant in Grimsby, Ontario. The role involves building, erecting and repairing structures using wood, plywood and wallboard in a full-time permanent capacity.

You will follow local building codes, read blueprints, and work with a team in a day shift at the Grimsby facility. Prior modular unit experience is an asset and safety is emphasized.

Qualifications

• Carpenter Journeyperson with ability to read blueprints.
• Experience with modular units is an asset.
• Able to work safely with a variety of hand and power tools.

Responsibilities

• Build house framework, walls, roof, exterior and interior finishes.
• Install doors, windows, flooring, cabinets, stairs, handrails, paneling, molding, ceiling tiles.
• Repair and remodel existing structures; read and interpret drawings.
• Select materials, plan sequences and methods, and measure materials to avoid omissions.
• Cut and shape materials and join with nails, screws, bolts or glue.
• Ensure units are level, square, plumb and correctly sized.

Job description

ATCO Structures & Logistics is looking to hire a registered Carpenter Journeyman to join our Grimsby Manufacturing Plant. The role reports to the Lead Hand and involves assisting in constructing, erecting, installing, and repairing structures and fixtures of wood, plywood, and wallboard while conforming to local building codes. This is a full‑time permanent role based in Grimsby, Ontario.

Job Responsibilities

• Build house framework, walls, roof, exterior and interior finishes
• Install doors, windows, flooring, cabinets, stairs, handrails, paneling, molding, and ceiling tiles
• Repair and remodel existing structures of all kinds
• Read and interpret drawings
• Select materials, plan sequences and methods of work, and measure and mark materials to avoid costly mistakes or omissions
• Cut and shape materials and join them with nails, screws, bolts, or glue
• Check completed units to ensure they are level, square, plumb, and in the right size, shape, and location
• Work accurately and economically and follow national and local building codes
• Other duties as assigned

Who You Are

• Carpenter Journeyperson
• Previous experience with modular units is considered an asset
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints
• Ability to work safely with a wide variety of hand and power tools as well as other building materials
• Ability to work in a team environment
