Job summary

ATCO Structures & Logistics Ltd in Grimsby, Ontario is seeking a registered Carpenter Journeyman to join our Grimsby Manufacturing Plant. This full-time position offers a competitive hourly rate and benefits.

You will build and repair structures using wood, plywood and wallboard, read blueprints, and ensure work complies with local building codes. Work is in a manufacturing setting with a day shift and a safety-focused team environment.

Qualifications

  • Must be a licensed Carpenter Journeyperson with proven ability to read and interpret blueprints.
  • Ability to work safely with hand and power tools and building materials.
  • Ability to work in a collaborative team environment and follow codes.

Responsibilities

  • Build house framework, walls, roof, exterior and interior finishes.
  • Install doors, windows, flooring, cabinets, stairs, handrails, paneling, molding, and ceiling tiles.
  • Repair and remodel existing structures.
  • Read and interpret drawings and blueprints.
  • Plan sequences and measure materials to avoid errors.
  • Cut and shape materials and join with nails, screws, bolts, or glue.
  • Check units for level, square, plumb, and correct size/shape.
  • Follow national/local building codes and safety practices.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

ATCO Structures & Logistics is looking to hire a registered Carpenter Journeyman to join our Grimsby Manufacturing Plant. Reporting to Lead Hand, The Carpenter Journeyman is responsible for assisting in constructing, erecting, installing and repairing structures and fixtures of wood, plywood, and wallboard, conforming to local building codes.

This is a full-time permanent role based in Grimsby, Ontario

Job Responsibilities
  • Build house framework, walls, roof, exterior and interior finishes
  • Install doors, windows, flooring, cabinets, stairs, handrails, paneling, molding, and ceiling tiles
  • Repair and remodel existing structures of all kinds
  • Read and interpret drawings.
  • Select materials, plan sequences and methods of work, and measure and mark materials to avoid costly mistakes or omissions.
  • Cut and shape materials and join them with nails, screws, bolts, or glue.
  • Check completed units to ensure they are level, square, plumb, and in the right size, shape, and location.
  • Work accurately and economically and follow national and local building codes
  • Other duties as assigned.
Who You Are
  • Carpenter Journeyperson
  • Previous experience with modular units is considered an asset
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
  • Ability to work safely with a wide variety of hand and power tools as well as other building materials.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
