Job summary

Aecon Construction Solutions Inc. is hiring Carpenter Apprentices and Journeypersons for on-site roles in Niverville, MB. The team focuses on structural formwork, framing, and finishing tasks across diverse civil and mechanical projects, with a strong emphasis on safety and teamwork.

Candidates should be able to read drawings, work with materials, and participate in hands-on craft activities. ACSI promotes safety, mentorship, and professional development on challenging infrastructure programs.

Qualifications

• Fall Protection – In Class confirmed.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced setting.
• Ability to lift up to 25 kg and work in all weather conditions.
• Fluency in English, both written and verbal.

Responsibilities

• Interpret and apply information from drawings and specifications.
• Plan layout, select materials, and prepare formwork for concrete foundations, walls, columns, beams and shafts.
• Cut, shape, and join materials with nails, screws, bolts or glue.
• Check units for level, square, plumb, size, shape and location.
• Perform general carpentry tasks including framing and doors/frames.
• Mentor apprentices and ensure safety on site.

Position Overview

Aecon Construction Solutions Inc. (ACSI) is a multi-disciplined construction company offering superior civil, electrical and mechanical services including piping, insulation, scaffolding, and module fabrication. We’re always on the search for exceptional craft candidates to fill our ever-expanding project portfolios. ACSI is seeking experienced Carpenter Apprentices & Journeypersons who will be integral to our project’s success.

Key Responsibilities

• Interpreting and applying information found in drawings, specifications
• Undertaking the layout (selecting materials, planning sequences and methods of work, measuring and marking materials).
• Prepare, erect and remove structural formwork for concrete foundations, walls, columns, beams and shafts.
• Cutting and shaping materials and joining them with nails, screws, bolts or glue.
• Checking completed units to be sure they are level, square, plumb and the right size, shape and location.
• General carpentry such as framing, hoarding, doors and frames and other activities as assigned.
• Journeyperson will mentor apprentices respectfully and oversee their safety.

Requirements and Experience

• Fall Protection – In Class
• Proven ability to work independently and as a part of a team in a fast-paced setting.
• Ability to lift and work with materials weighing up to 25kg.
• Ability to work in all weather conditions and environments.
• Must be fluent in English, both written and verbal.
• Engineered formwork experience would be considered an asset
• Ability to stand, crouch and kneel for long periods of time
• Good sense of balance when working on scaffolds, ability to work at heights.
• The ability to solve math problems quickly and accurately
• Must have a strong understanding of safety procedures and policies on an industrial job site
